The past few days I’ve managed to go out and shoot quite a few more photos. My folder shows that I’ve actually taken over 200 on June 1st and 2nd. Last night I studied a few more videos of ‘The Art of Flower Photography. In addition to these videos I’ve been on Youtube looking at lens videos and just recently got connected to Spyros Heniadis’s site. He had a good one on shooting depth of field. I’m starting to get the hang of this one, which is important since it is going to be critical for my flower photographs. His site is www.selfhelpphotographer.com. I think I’m going to get a lot from him and I’ve subscribed to his Youtube channel where he posts educational videos regularly. He also has an ebook out on shooting in Manual Mode that I might purchase for $20.
Last night I pulled up the Creative Live videos on my camera, the Canon Rebel 3Ti. I was having some difficulty figuring out how to set the focus points and was able to recall many other relevant things that will help during this next week. Getting the camera set just right is the biggest part of this battle.
THIS WEEK’S BEST IMAGES
My best images this week are below. I really like these two of the dying poppies. I just now noticed that the focal point could have been better since there is an out of focus area in the star shape in the first image. I think I like it anyway. I like the blurred backgrounds on both of them. The learning on these is that I need to carefully select the focal point when shooting selective focus.
These were both shot in AV mode at f/5, 1/60 sec.
